Tucked away in a quiet new residential area in the beautiful coastal town of Dornoch, Harris House is a true home from home in the Scottish Highlands. The interior furnishings have stunning “wee” Scottish touches throughout and the house is furnished with everything you could think of to ensure you have a fabulous stay.
Relaxing
The ground floor boasts a warm and welcoming lounge with comfortable sofas and armchairs to sit back and relax with a book or snuggle in for a movie. A full Sky TV package is available, along with Apple TV and Netflix, and a great selection of board and card games to keep everyone entertained. A digital radio is provided in the kitchen / family room along with a sound speaker which can be connected via Bluetooth. WiFi is available throughout the house.
Whatever your reason for visiting this beautiful home you are guaranteed a true Highland welcome and a wonderful stay.
Kitchen & Dining
The kitchen and dining area is an open plan design, with a large dining table and benches, and a breakfast island centrepiece, with additional seating. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with a double oven / combination grill and microwave, dishwasher, integrated fridge/freezer, separate wine fridge, coffee machine and an extensive supply of crockery, glassware, utensils and cooking equipment. A selection of fine Highland Malt Whiskies and Scottish Gins are available from the honesty bar. The south-facing enclosed garden and patio can be accessed via French doors from the dining area of the kitchen / family room. To enjoy the long bright summer nights, the garden is furnished with outdoor seating and a barbeque, along with a patio heater. Informal sofa and easy chair seating forms the remainder of this gorgeous room which is without doubt the heart of Harris House.
Sleeping & Showering
The house has four bedrooms which are reached from a bright split level staircase. The master bedroom with ensuite, and one further double bedroom with an ensuite are located on one side of the upper floor, and the remaining two bedrooms on the other. All of the bedrooms can be configured with twin single beds or doubles, and all have wardrobe or hanging space, drawer storage and hairdryers. The master also has two additional single pull-out trundle beds (linen supplement applies) so can comfortably accommodate a ‘family-in-one-room’ for larger parties of guests. The master bedroom has a lovely walk-in dressing area which leads to the ensuite bathroom with standalone shower. The other bedrooms share a spacious bathroom with bath and over-bath shower.
Storage & Parking
There is a spacious utility area off the kitchen with a door to the back garden, and access around the side of the house to the shed – perfect for storing golf clubs – and around to the drive at the front of the house, which can easily accommodate two cars. The utility room has a washing machine, tumble dryer, standalone clothes airers, as well as hooks for hanging coats and jackets, and a handy stand for drying out muddy welly boots or golf shoes! Additional storage for outdoor clothes and shoes is provided in the front hallway and downstairs w.c.
Little Extras
Harris House is unfortunately not suitable for pets but children are very welcome 🙂 A travel cot and highchair is provided, and plastic dinnerware and cutlery included in the kitchen. A little box of extra safety equipment for toddlers includes corner protectors for the kitchen islands and child-proof socket covers.
